Hi,
This is already not such a recent news, but I finally bought me two 4-packs of this new beer from bry Het Anker (owned by Huyghe now).

Supermarket Carrefour does a great promotion these days, and offers the second 4-pack at 50% discount.
And that's for all the Gouden Carolus beers they offer, incl. the dark Gouden Carolus Whisky Infused.

That is €11.92 for eight 33cl bottles of heavenly goodness.
And !!! Buying two 4-packs gives a free Gouden Carolus 33cl tasting glass as well. (see the glass on the left)
Needless to say that I was as lucky as a little child  :D

Wauw folks, what a wonderful beer!

I didn't drink it too cold. First, because I couldn't wait that long when I returned back home from the supermarket (I put in the freezer for about 15 minutes only). And secondly, a beer at 10.7 vol% "whisky infused" really doesn't ask for a very cold beer to savour. Very cold beers looses their precious flavors.

What an amazing beer !!
Just after uncapping, I has a subtle whisky peaty aroma.
Tasting confirmed that very subtle peated flavor and aroma, but that disappeared after a while.
It is a crystal clear blond-orange beer with no bottle refermentation.
The carbonation was amazing. Similar to the finest Champagnes.

Tasting gives a sweet malty dense beer.
This is, as expected, their Gouden Carolus Imperial Blond (10 vol%) enriched with an infusion of Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky. This results in a spicy and full-bodied beer, with subtle notes of vanilla and oak.
Just like Gouden Carolus Whisky Infused Dark, this beer was initially launched under the Indulgence label. Following its success, it has been added to the permanent beer range.

No hesitation, that's a beer I will order me again and again !! WONDERFUL !!!

Cheers,
Filip

It will certainly be on my list of beers to drink when i'm next in Belgium. I've always been a fan of Gouden Carolus beers and was worried about there future when Huyghe bought them up. Glad to see it looks good.
