Hi folks,
It's been very busy lately.
Even with being retired I still have too much shortness of time.
Today, I also do the Facebook "Brugge Vroeger en Nu" group, and that is quite an addiction too.
I also needed to buy me a new computer.
After more than 10 years, it finally went dead :(
But no problem, the one I bought now is a sure 50x faster :)  Amazing evolutions.
Things are running smoothly again. And after all, I was amazed how easy the change and transition went.
Small detail: My PC went nuts when I was intensively using the Elon Musk Grok AI engine. This blew up the chip !!!!  :P

This needed a beer, so we went to "Tafel en Toog van Xaverius" here at Sint-Andries (very close to Brugge)
https://www.tafelentoog.be/

They sport a load of Belgian beers, and they do food too.

Tafel & Toog also supports the "Bruges Autonomous Beertasters" Beer of the Month idea. GREAT !!

The beer of the month Feb-Mar is Circus Winter Ale.
An amber dark beer which has a rich and complex flavor profile thanks to a mix of spices and a hint of gingerbread.
A powerful winter beer at 10% alc. => Delicious !  t_u

This place is always busy, and that makes it always a cosy relaxing experience.

A focus on the beer of the month now from Circus brewery.
Poured into their proper huge American-style beer glass.
A crystal clear dark amber beauty with a nice head. Looks fantastic folks  :appauding-1:

Nosing and tasting indeed gives that sweet cinnamon flavor.
But there is more going on. Caramalt malts for instance and a nice candy sugar sweetness (not too much - perfectly balanced). It has a nice boost of hops too.
This beer needs some caution, because it still has a huge 10 vo%l of alcohol. Slowly sipping is the key  :drinking:

The food is tasty, comfortable and not expensive. A perfect pairing with the beer too  t_u

Filip

Sorry to hear about your old computer deciding to quit, but happy that you have found a very nice replacement. May it give you many years of good service.

Those food and beverage pics make me hungry and thirsty, and it's only 5:30 in the morning here.   :eyes:

Cheers! - John

Well said John, that's some delicious looking food accompanied with a great beer  t_u

It's a real pain when a well trusted piece of technology goes wrong, a couple of months ago the battery door on my Olympus camera  broke. The switch you slide to open it fell apart leaving the door constantly flapping open (luckily the battery is still held in place) and so to stop this happening I have the quick release plate from my tripod permanently attached, which I have to remove in order to charge the battery externally.

So after 8 or 9 years of great service it's time for a new model, this time I'm looking at Fujifilm or Sony. With these newer models I'll no longer need to remove the battery to charge (they aren't even supplied with an external charging unit) instead you just connect a USB C cable, nowadays everything is moving to USB C for charging, one lead that can charge every electrical device.

Cheers

Hi Jay,
Indeed always a PITA when a trusted piece of technology suddenly stops to work.
Luckily, the HDD (1TB) still works.
I bought me this external HDD docking system
https://tinyurl.com/4krv7m8r
and see, all my data is still accessible. I even copied the whole bunch to my other 4TB external drive.
My new PC (Windows 11) really works so fast and without any HDD sound, because the internal drive is a SDD (1TB).
After all, I'm quite happy with the outcome !
Here is my brand new PC: https://tinyurl.com/y3s5hxts
BTW: I had a discount of 83 Euro, because there is a tiny damage on the housing, ie a little scratch on top of the housing.
This asks for a good beer !!!
Cheers,
Filip
