Hi guys,

To get my photos on here first of all I used to plug my mobile, or tablet, into my laptop
and options came up with accessing what's on my phone. Several clicks later I then get
the option to transfer from mobile to laptop.

Simple, and have been doing it for many years!

This time however presents totally different screens and all the old options have gone.

The worst one now is One-Drive, something I've never used, or indeed wanted to before,
and once I keep away from using something "alien" to me and my computer I keep away as
there are so many sites trying to get me to do stuff that I do not want to!

One-Drive says that I need to sync my phone with my laptop. Syncing has been done before
many times in order to transfer/copy the pictures from mobile to laptop, but without
One-Drive.

Do you have any suggestions of how I should approach this?

Cheers,

Viv

Hi Viv,
When I take pictures with smartphone, I afterwards connect the phone with USB cable to my PC.
At that point, Windows recognizes my phone and I only need to accept the connection with accepting om my smartphone.
Once this has been done I can transfer my pix to my computer with Windows explorer.
I once had problems with connecting my smartphone to my pc when Windows didn't spot the connection at all.
After some research I found out that the USB cable didn't work like it should. I replaced with another one and things went smooth again.
Another trick is to simply email your pictures towards your computer. Consulting your emails on PC gives the pictures to download, but you need to do this with one picture per email, because the pictures are quite big.
Hope you succeed Viv  F_C

Hi Viv,

Pretty much like yourself and Filip, I would also connect my phone to my laptop and physically import each photo.
I would then upload them to an image sharing site (I did use photobucket but not anymore)

Now though I do pretty much everything straight from my phone, no cables involved and if I do want them on my laptop then it's for backup purposes.

Pictures I take with my phone are automatically saved to both my Apple iCloud and Amazon photos (if you're a prime member it's free unlimited storage)
I also have my image posting site (imgbb) as an app on my phone and just upload them straight from my phone to the imgbb site then post the links here...it's so easy I could do whilst abroad no problem.

Same goes with my cameras, I also used to do the cable connection to my laptop but not anymore. I have the Canon and Olympus apps on my phone, any pictures I want to save I just press a button on my camera to start Bluetooth and open the app on my phone and the pictures import wirelessly.

This is a screenshot of the photo folder on my phone, these are all the apps I use with no use for a laptop, computer or any cables - to take this picture, upload it to imgbb and post it here took less than 10 seconds

Great advice Jay  t_u
But actually, there is no need to transfer the pictures to PC as the forum is smartphone friendly by now.
Just upload straight from the source (smartphone) to the forum. Should be easy.
