Heilig Hart Brouwerij - Kwatrecht
« on: October 12, 2021, 12:57:03 PM »
Hi,
Here's a small impression of the only and one "church brewery" in Belgium.

The church of Kwatrecht, installed as a beer pub, beer shop, and ..... brewery!
Heading to the left, one will arrive at brewery Huyghe (Melle). That's only a 2.5 km drive.

What an amazing location!

Hop plants against the wall, carrying hop cones.

This is a view towards the entrance.
On top we see the original organ pipes. Not sure if the organ itself is still present though.
On the right side there is that showcase, exposing all their products for sale.
This includes their beers, but also wines, spirits like Pastis, Saké, and different other distillates.
All BIO products without any artificial ingredients. For example, the wines don't have any sulfite addition.
Everything is commercialized by Desolari - pure natural taste. The brewery is actually part of that company.

Ity's great to see that the enterior of the church has been untouched. Even the confessionals are present.
Notice the wooden barrels there on top. This actually is the barrel ageing room. There are also bigger foeders.

The brewery installation is installed in front. That gives such a mighty impression! Truely impressive.

Turning a bit to the right, we can see the bar, carrying 4 taps.
Note that the chairs are still the original chruch stairs.
The brewery, run by Hans Dusselier, is specialized in making mixed fermented beers.
This means that an open coolship is present. It's located underneith the brewery installation, there in the back.
We can also see an amphora behind the pulpit there.
They are currently testing and analyzing with 11 amphorae, 2 foeders of 10 HL and several wooden barrels.
The tests have only strengthened their conviction that amphorae represent a very great added value in certain beer styles.
Here is their collection of wild beers for sale: https://desolari3.odoo.com/shop/category/bier-wild-13
Nice to see that the wild fermented Italian Loverbeers from Valter Loverier are also on that list. That sure is an added value.

But we went for their excellent triple instead!
Heading to Helig Hart brewery is always going for that AMAZING triple. One of the best Belgian triples available today!

Cheers,
Filip

Wife, standing at the front door of their home with arms crossed and an angry look on her face as her husband walks up: "And where have YOU been?!?!"

Husband: "I've been at church all day dear".  :biere_gif:
