Hi,
Today, some promotions are done at supermarket Carrefour to promote this new beer from ABInBev.
It's called Leffe Prestige 1240
https://www.carrefour.be/nl/bier-6-x-33-cl-doos/07197264.html
I bought me two 6-packs at Carrefopur supermarket and one six-pack came at no charge. That's the promo they do today here in Belgium.
That's only 8,99 € for 12 bottles. I really couldn't resist at all 😂🧐
This sure can't go wrong for 0.75 Euro per bottle 🙂 (I don't feel robbed by ABInBev) 🙂

Commercial description:

"Leffe Prestige 1240 is a strong, full-bodied abbey ale, inspired by the abbey's ancestral brewing methods dating back to 1240. This beer offers beautiful complexity thanks to four types of grain, with flavors that reveal themselves one after the other.
Aroma: Fruity, spicy, floral, and malty.
Flavor: Smooth beer with spicy and fruity notes of banana, vanilla, star anise, citrus, and coriander.
Pairs perfectly with: foie gras toast, salmon on a bed of fennel, cheese: Brillat-Savarin and Tomme."

The experience I have with this beer is a reminicent to a stronger Leffe blond. No bottle refermentation too, sweeter, more body, more spicy, more alcohol, maltier, more satisfaction in one sip, but still having that typical Leffe blond stamp, which I never found in another beer. Makes me wonder (the yeast?)
InBev calls it a "blond abbey beer".
Made with 4 kinds of grains which can be seen on the small emblem on the bottle neck label with a hand holding four strains of grains. Same emblem on the crowncork. (see pix here above). The grain ingredients are: barley malt, corn, wheat malt, wheat, oats. Unmalted wheat too, but with malted wheat it counts as the same grain. 4 in total. No bottle refermentation because on the label it's mentioned that CO2 addition is one of the ingredients to make it gassy in the bottle. I found it quite quaffable though 👍
I think I'm gonna buy me a Brillat-Savarin cheese to pair with the next one.
Cheers,
Filip

Hi Filip,

Sounds quite drinkable, although as you say probably like a stronger Leffe Blonde.
Maybe it's the bubblegum flavour that sticks out, which can be similar to the
Delirium brews?

So, where's this brew been since 1240 then.....? Sounds a bit far fetched to me!

Corn and wheat malt seem to crop up on more and more beer labels, which may be
because they are cheaper ingedients, as well as in more and more foods and often
with corn syrup which is not supposed to be a healthy option.

Anyway, with beer as cheap as this it's worth tasting a few bottles.

Cheers!

Viv,
I don't know, but that typical Leffe blond flavour is there already from the ever start when Inbev brewed it already in the time they took over. It's such a distinguish flavor making it so easy to pick out from a blind tasting. This beer has it too. A mystery for me  ???
That 1240 story is ofcourse far fetched and only a clever marketing trick  O:-)
Cheers,
Filip
