Hi,
Time to reveal the new place for Bruges' brewery Fort Lapin!
About one year ago, they moved from Koolkerkse Steenweg towards Dreef ter Panne.
That's only about 1 km between the old and new venue. A 15 minutes walk only.

But what an improvement !!!!
Much more space ! The most important factor.
This used to be a garage, but they stopped and brewmaster Kristof Vandenbussche and his wife took over and moved to there with installing everything from schratch.
The brewery is located in the back inside a separate very big space. The tasting room is also very large and is housed in the front space.

Simply amazing!

The brew tavern is open on Saturdays from 2pm till 6pm.
There is also a beer shop and the possibility to do a beer tour.
All details can be found on their website: https://fortlapin.com/en/
Even a webshop is available too: https://fortlapin.com/webshop.html

On the first picture one can see the taps. There's always three house beers from tap.
On the right side here, we notice a pizza oven! A surprise indeed.
From time to time, there's pizza parties going on.
This is the forthcoming event:

Starting with two winter-warming beauties.

And ending with a magnificent Fort Lapin tripel from tap.

FORT LAPIN - TRIPEL
TOP-FERMENTED BEER WITH REFERMENTATION IN THE BOTTLE
Alc. by volume: 8,0%
Recommended serving temperature: 4-6°C
33cl / 75cl and from tap.

This was the brewery's first beer. It possesses characteristics of a wheat beer due to the inclusion of coriander and wheat malt. It is a nicely balanced and easy drinker, with a light spiciness, a beautiful golden color, and a nice head. The beer is slightly hoppy, with spicy and malty notes. I cannot stress enough how exceptional this is. This is a masterly crafted Belgian tripel that has my full endorsement. When served from the tap, it is even fresher, and spices are more pronounced.

Next time, we go for the pizza too !!

Cheers,
Filip

A very nice looking and fairly large space but I have to wonder... Why is the tasting room open only 1 day a week and for only 4 hours?

Sure, they probably do rent it out at times for birthdays, weddings anniversaries and such, but for a beer lover who would like to just go there on a whim and have a few beers it seems the scant few hours that this is possible just doesn't leave much chance.

Anyway, best wishes to them in their new location.

Cheers! - John

Hi John,
Possibly because it is not their first-priority occupation/money income. Brewing beer is the key.
Actually, this is quite similar to De Dolle Brouwers. Only, DDB also opens on Sunday afternoon. That's the whole weekend. But still, even there, brewing is the main activity. They are breweries ofcourse.
But is is nice that at Fort Lapin from time to time the opening hours on Saturday are expanded with the Pizza parties going on.
Brewing beer is a tough job, and side activities like running a tasting room could become a too-much efforts. Fort Lapin is still a small brewery  t_u

Filip
