Hi,
The new year has just  begun, and definite needs a good start.
The good start is coming from Wallonia: Augrenoise.
Augrenoise is brewed at extreme small Brasserie Augrenoise at Casteau (www.augrenoise.com).
Brewed under the supervision of the Orval engineer-brewer Jean-Marie Rock with Orval yeast !
This blond beer is brewed in the framework of an educational integration project for handicapped people.

Tasted at the new Ghent based beer pub "Delirium Café". See also...

The beautiful label is the artwork of a talented mental-handicapped artist. Great job !!!!
This beer has been created according an original recipe.
Barley malt, wheat malt, unmalted wheat, oat, Styrian Golding hops only. NO additional sugars nor spices.
Brewed following the infusion method with yeast from the Orval brewery.
The water is obtained from a natural provision pool that is situated at the brewery.
Fermentation happens at open fermenters with Orval yeast.
Primary fermentation is followed with cold lagering at 4°C for one week.
Bottled at 75c. volumes with a supplementary addition of sugar and yeast for a two weeks bottle refermentation at 20°C. Plastic corked.

Please, do not expect an Orval clone here !
On the contrary, this beer is amazing low in bitterness. Only a  9.7 IBU.  Hardly noticeable.
No wild Brettanomyces yeast flavors !
I noticed some honey and lime flavors. VERY refreshing.
This beer is blond and cloudy. Foam is very Champagne alike. Bubbling, lively, somewhat unstable.
Has alot of grainy flavors, perfectly balanced with fruity accents, lime, apples, pleasant fruity sourness, very cider alike.
Delightful floral nose too, and even a touch of smoke. A most remarkable beer if you ask me.
Note that there's also a second beer brewed at Augrenoise. The stronger equivalent called Augrenoise blonde de Noël. A X-mas beer at 10 vol%.

Augrenoise is a perfect session beer for the upcoming summer, which will arrive in no time :-)

Cheers,
Filip
