A few minutes ago I was visiting the Rochefort website and noticed that they mentioned starting 2024 they made the Rochefort Tripel available on tap. Just wondering if any of you lucky ones have been able to try this from tap yet?

Hi John,
That really is quite some surprise information you got there mate  :o
Like you say, it is mentioned on their website:

"The unique Rochefort draught beer
Since 2024, the brewery has been offering the new Triple Extra draught lager in deliberately limited quantities, in certain countries and trendy locations.

The purple colour associated with it is the colour of friendship: a colour that suits it perfectly since Triple Extra draught beer is a light, fruity beer to be shared amongst friends.

With its intense freshness and golden blond colour evoking the sun, it is also the ideal beer to enjoy on a terrace in the summer.

It is served in a specially decorated glass with its purple logo and the dates 1920 – 2020, a reminder of the history of Rochefort Abbey's first lager."

That's actually the ever first trappist Rochefort that's been presented on tap !!
VERY strange they use the word lager for their triple  ??? On the Dutch language page on their website about the triple, they speak about blond beer, without mentioning the word "lager". Probably a mistake from the translator. Actually, this beer is not bottom fermented at all.

Anyway, it seems that the monks take some different directions with their Triple Extra.
First: It is brewed at a separate brewery, specially made for that triple.
Second: They installed a keg filling machine only for that triple too.

Interesting evolutions after all ....

Actually John,
After some research, I found out that the scoop was made on their Facebook page in June of 2024!

From Monday, June 10, 2024, you will have the opportunity to acquire, at the gatehouse of the Saint-Rémy abbey, a LIMITED EDITION of the Rochefort Trappist glass.
This glass has a Triple Extra pastille celebrating the release of our blond beer on tap.
Only 1000 numbered copies are available. The distribution will be random, without the possibility of choosing the number.
In order to please as many enthusiasts as possible, we will limit the sale of this one to one glass per person.

The first release was done at the Belgian Beer Weekend early September of this year.

Our blond beer, the TRIPLE EXTRA, will be presented on tap at the 2024 Belgian Beer Weekend, the WORLD'S FINEST MEETING PLACE for beer lovers and beer connoisseurs.
We look forward to seeing many of you there to discover the TRIPLE EXTRA and taste it together!

Cheers,
Filip

Thank you for that "extra" information Filip!   t_u

I'll certainly keep an eye out for it on tap here. I can think of only one place within an hour from me that might possibly get it someday.

They do have bottles of it but at ridiculous prices. I can easily get bottles of it for half that price in a beer store. So I'm sure on tap it would be a crazy price too, but worth it just to try once, for research purposes only of course.  ;)
