GRANI ANTICHI  t_u t_u t_u t_u

Strong special/double from Moretti of Italy, albeit under the Heineken
umbrella, with an ABV of 8.0%. New brew for me. Just over a year past
the taste by date but tastes absolutely great to me. I haven't really
tasted many of the higher-quality Italian brews as I've mainly only
tasted their Pils brews.

Pours a deep golden amber copper with a good size bubbly frothy head.
Good lacing.

Lovely malty, hoppy, spicy, fruity aroma.

It's medium to full bodied, and nicely carbonated creating a rich,
smooth, luxurious and soft, filling mouthfeel and taste. It's full
flavoured, and nicely balanced with a good level of complexity. Strongly
dominated by the malts, but also with plenty of hops, spices, caramel,
honey, butter, and fruits including dried fruits. Underlying background
sweetness allied to the dry and bitter dominating the taste buds it's a
truly wonderful brew, and quite similar to the German Bockbiers.
Great stuff!

Cheers!

Hi Viv,
Great beer tasting!
No picture attached this time, which made me curious how it looks alike.

Looks GREAT to me  t_u but unfortunatly this beer seems unavailable here in Belgium. Buying online is a possibility though.

Cheers,
Filip

Hi Filip,

I wasn't sure whether it would be worthy of a picture, so until I had tasted most
of it it was then unfortunately too late!

Well worth tasting if you get a chance. It's no longer stocked on Tesco shelves,
and I think they just buy a batch and see how the sales go, as I noticed it
disappear from their shelves fairly quickly.

Cheers!
