Hi everyone

Linda has booked us on the upcoming Rivington Farm Trip, it's an annual beer festival that takes place over three days and we're attending on the Thursday.

It should be a great family day out with lots of wonderful beer and food, I will of course take lots of pictures and report back.

Cheers

Hi everyone

This weekend was the Rivington Farm Trip and we attended on the opening day (Thursday) and what a fantastic family day out it was.

We took a taxi as Rivington is just a 20 minute drive away and it meant I could indulge 🍻
So setting off at 1.15pm we arrived at Rivington Farm (and brewery) just after 1.30pm, in plenty of time for the 2pm opening

At 2 o'clock the gates opened and the now large waiting crowd were let inside in groups of 12 (to avoid overcrowding and ease of obtaining our wristbands and glasses) and we were in the first group.

Wristbands in place and with glasses at the ready we made our way through the first beery spot, a picturesque area called "taps beneath the trees" and headed towards the taproom (passing the Tipi bar and Tunnel bar on the way)

We found a table outside the taproom, went inside to buy our tokens and kicked things off with a beer from the Tipi bar, an IPA from American brewery Finback - Headset on 5.5% and what a beer to start with, perfectly crisp and smashable in the warm afternoon sunshine

That was such a great introduction that I decided upon another from this New York brewery and decided to ramp up the ABV a little with their Way Cool - 8% DIPA...utterly delicious

Time for a snack and with so many food trucks selling a wide variety of cuisines we really were spoiled for choice, we opted for some spicy Patatas Bravas...just the job

More beers were sampled and every one delicious, even the bright pink Blueberry Cheesecake Sour from Azvex that our Anna picked was amazingly delicious, it really did taste like like Blueberry Cheesecake.

Back to the regular beers with one from L'Ermitage in Brussels and their Pils De Foudre, a 5% Pilsner aged in Oak Foudre barrels, it was like a beery cider mashup

Time for more food and the pizzas coming out of the nearby Pizza Hut looked awesome so it was a Margarita to share

The time seemed right to try a couple of dark beers, first off a Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Stout from Puhaste on a thumping 15%...utterly delicious

Making our way over to the Taps Beneath the Trees area my next dark beer was from a friend of ours, Damian from Emporers Brewery and his Mindless Philosopher - 12% Blueberry Cheesecake Imperial Porter, it was like chocolate dipped blueberries

What a wonderful mini festival this was, set in the beautiful West Penine moors it really does tick all the boxes

Wauw Jay,
What a nice little beer fest !
It's great to see that the beer fest tasting glasses are from a nice volume and not in plastic.

It seems there's beers for everyone's pleasure.
This example is very suitable for younger people. No wonder that Anna went for that one. (with moderation ofcourse)
A Sour Smoothie / Pastry beer at 6 vol%.
Now, that's a beer style you won't often find over here in Belgium.
That's quite a strange beer IMHO, but if that tastes delicious, why not. (Not for Viv ofcourse)

I could easily add:

Great beers ✔️
Great location ✔️
Great food ✔️
Great company ✔️

Great weather ✔️
Great guests like you Jay, Linda and Anna ✔️

GREAT article ✔️

Thanks for that Filip and also for the main page article 👍🏻

Last week I sampled the official beer of the Rivvy festival

Rivington - Farm Trip 2024...6% DDH IPA - official beer of Farm Trip 2024, colab with DEYA

Bitter candied citrus zest, coconut, a touch of the tropics....bloody magnificent and here's to a magnificent festival 🍻

Looks very delicious and above all, very refreshing Jay,
It seems summer time has stopped over here in Bruges. I just experienced a heavy hail fall.
I hope the weather will be better the next days that come, because we do need that good weather during the Bruges Beer Fest.

Anyway, that beer list is IMPRESSIVE !!!

The global ratings from high to low gives this!

Westvleteren 12 being number 1
And alot from beer firm BramBrass on that top 12, incl. Italian WhitePony from wonderboy Roberto Orano, and that AMAZING brewery De Meester from brewMASTER Dirk De Meester.
I already do know what I will taste  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

See you tomorrow night !!! Have a safe trip to Bruges  t_u
