Trappist

Hi,

It's always a true joy to visit the HOPtimist again.
A beer pub that is located just outside the centre of Bruges, more precise at suburb village Sint-Michiels.
A 10 minutes walk from Bruges' railway station. Stumbling return walk about 20 minutes, something  :drunken_smilie:

You can guess who choose that Westmalle triple  :chin:
HOPtimist has expanded these days.
They bought the neighbouring house, and made a passage, which can be seen here on the picture.
This means, double space !! which is a fantastic move if you ask me.  :appauding-1:

Hérétique Dark Strong Ale from brewery Feniks, brewed by brewmaster Gino Vantieghem (former brewmaster at Liefmans!!)

Feniks Hérétique is a strongly spiced, dark and strong beer (9.6 vol%), packed with spices such as star anise, cardamom, cumin, licorice, zest of oranges, and chili peppers.
Barley malts: pilsner, pale ale, caramel
Hops: Saaz hops
Includes unrefined cane sugar, caramel sugar and ofcourse....yeast.

Quite a mixture there, and that ofcourse could be tasted.
It actually is all there, and the chili peppers gives it that extra kick at the end.  t_u
A great tasting and smelling quality beer !!

For a change (!!), katrien went for that satisfying delicious Straffe Hendrik tripel.
A tasty pairing was done with this delicious huge mixed meat and cheese platter. Garlicy olives and sun-dried tomatoes, celery salt, and  .... Wostyntje mustard (the best local mustard).
We sure weren't hungry anymore  B_FLAG

PS: My first beer was a Gulden Draak brewmaster edition...... and yes, I forgot to take a picture (gettin old I suppose :chin:)

Cheers,
Filip
