Hi,
A new quadrupel has been launched lately.

It is made by https://belgiancontractbrewery.com/ (Bry. Eutropius) for beer firm https://www.maitresse.be/

A creamy dark beer with a nice velvety softness.
9 vol% strong, and bottle refermented.
A subtle spiciness is noticed in the nose and on the tongue.
But it is mainly a sweet malty profile with a perfect hoppy balance.
Definitely one of the better quadrupels around.

Cheers,
Filip

A new good quad is always welcome news t_u

Looking forward to colder weather, so I can start enjoying quad / strong darks properly after "summer quad break". It's been an unusually warm late september / early october. But then again, in weather there are few reliable patterns remaining. :-\

Looks like the bottle format was changed. At www.maitresse.be it appears like this

Hi Jorge,
Not sure about the different bottles.
It is possible that the picture you show is a beer that's been brewed at another brewery.
All too frequently, I notice that Belgian beer firms do change alot from their contractbrewery.

Is it common for belgian beers to be brewed by a contractbrewery?

It kind of spoils my current mental image of how my tasty quad / strong dark was made  ;D

Yes, VERY common.
A little glance on the https://www.belgianbeerboard.com/index.php/beer-firms beer firms (or beer companies list) shows how many there are at this moment.
No problem, all beers are still brewed at a Belgian brewery.
A couple of things can be improved though.
I would appreciate it if they don't use the word "brewery" part of their name on the labels, and ofcourse it would be utterly nice and convenient if they put the origin of the real brewery - where it actually is brewed - on the label.
Cheers,
Filip
