OUD BEERSEL WINTERLAMBIEK  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Winter seasonal brew from Oud Beersel, being a Lambiek with infused pine buds, with an ABV of 7.2%. New brew for me.

Pours a crystal clear golden blonde with a good sized creamy bubbly head. Some lacing.

Fresh and crisp nutty, bretty, sharp, acidic aroma with some dry sherry.

It's thinnish bodied, and nicely carbonated with an effervescent fizzy soft mouthfeel. Complex, layered, balanced, and with good depth of flavour it's very refined, very smooth and velvety, and remarkably easy drinking. Dominated by the pine, which is quite spicy and very dry, there's plenty of brett, sour, citrics, vinegar, fino sherry, walnut and hazelnut, even some caramel, hint of honey, mint, and wild garlic, minerals, along with some herbals in there too. Overall though it's quite toned down with very little puckering and extremes for a lambic. Excellent brew, and I do hope this becomes a regular brew, as Oud Beersel are increasing rapidly their range of brews and some may be discontinued as they ( naturally? ) churn the range.
