BOON OUDE GEUZE  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Geuze from Frank Boon with an ABV of 7.0%.

Pours a crystal clear light golden with a bubbly head. No lacing is produced.
Bretty, sour, hoppy and fruity aroma.

It's medium bodied, and highly carbonated with a spritzy feel to it. Acidic, bretty, dry, sour, lemon, vinegar, grains, and slightly puckering in the finish. It's all there and wonderfully balanced. Definitely one of the best of the style.

One of my all-time favourites and I have been tasting it fairly regularly for more than 20 years but always much fresher, but yesterday I tasted a bottle I've had for over 4 years. Everything is as before taste wise but it's now just so smooth and mellow, and really toned down. It's sweeter, more vinous, and with some honey and caramel too.

Do I prefer the fresher taste or the mellow taste?  Definitely the stronger
flavoured fresher beer. The flavours are far more pronounced.

Cheers,
Viv
