DES LOUPS NOEL  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Christmas beer from des Loups, with an ABV of 7.0%. New brew for me.

Pours a deep amber blonde with an enormous creamy frothy head. Great lacing.

Strong aroma of hops, spices, and malts.

Medium to full bodied, and highly carbonated with a soft gassy fizzy mouthfeel. Complex, balanced, and with good depth of flavour. It's possibly more like a blend of Saison and Amber ale than a Christmas brew but it works pretty well anyway. There's lots of florals, herbs, medicinals, grains, vanilla, spices including pepper ginger and cardomom, along with jam, marmalade, and strong citric fruits. Bittersweet with a long dry and slightly warming finish. Good stuff!

Cheers!

Hi Viv,
Thanks for sharing  t_u
Strange is that this brewery isn't listed on the BBB brewery list and even not on the Zythos brewery list  :exclamation:
I just added this one, but also asked around if it really is a genuine Belgian brewery.
There is another brewery at La Louvière called brasserie Laetare, but it seems this one has been closed recently.
Need to do some research....
Cheers,
Filip

Hi Viv,
Lataere has indeed recently been closed down.
But brasserie des Loups is not a real brewery. Their beers are contract brewed at brasserie de la Couronne at Binche.
I will add them under beer firms.
With thanks to Tony for clarifying things  t_u

So indeed, the brewery pictures that's been shown on their facebook page are made at brasserie de la Couronne. FYI.

Cheers,
Filip

Hi Filip,

Excellent research! I could never have been able to get that
much information from google as it just isn't there!

I knew about the previous brasserie/brewery that went bust and
that des Loups were operating in their old premises but the
information appeared to suggest that des Loups were using the
old brewing equipment too which is clearly now not the case.

I've now tasted three of the des Loups brews, and they're all
pretty good.

Cheers!
