BARISTA CHOCOLATE QUAD  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Last tasted in 2016 when it was known as Kasteel Winter, from van Honsebrouck, with an ABV of 11.0%.
Pours a very deep chestnut burgundy with a nice creamy frothy head. Some lacing is produced.

Strong aroma of coffee, chocolate, mocha, caramel, burnt malts, toast, vanilla, marzipan, icing, and Christmas cake.

It's medium to full bodied, and nicely carbonated producing a rich luxurious smooth and velvety texture and mouthfeel. It's rounded, and balanced, with great depth of flavour, and good complexity, and with the same tastes as per the aroma, but essentially just a blend of cake icing, marzipan, milk chocolate and praline. Some background hops too. Sweet yet slightly dry and bitter in the finish. Once warmed there are also hints of sherry, brandy and port. Excellent brew!
