St-Feuillien Grand Cru - 9.5 vol% - Paired with a succulent Irish Ribeye Steak

Hi,
It was time to open that €7.99 bottle of Saint-Feuillien Grand Cru.



Great presentation and a most beautiful bottle too.
This beer is cork sealed.



An excellent beer that we paired with a tasty Irish ribeye steak.
Two steaks at 350 grammes each 
Each steak is slightly more expensive than the bottle. About €10.00 each.
Yes, good quality has its price here in Belgium



The steaks were baked on this heavy massive grill pan.
The "cuisson" needed to be "saignant". Pink inside.



Belgian "handcut by Filip" fries, green pepper sauce, and "ploppy" sweet corns with dressing sauce.
It really doesn't need to be more than that folks

Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium's St Feuillien Brewery.
This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character.
The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients.
Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices.
Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect.
The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru's delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances.

Those tasting notes can only be confirmed by yours truely  What a treat 
I was very surprised that there is no spices used here.
I could swear I tasted coreander 
But apparently that came from the spicy hops and possibly also from the bottle refermentation job.
What a pleasant drink this is. sweetish, fruity, delicate hoppy, soft, perfect carbonation, long lasting lingering of fruity hops. Nothing citric to be precise.

In other words: A masterpiece, yes 



Mayonnaise is essential ofcourse 



That meat was so soft and tender. It just melted on my tongue..... teeth nearly not needed

Hi Filip and Jay,

This has long been one of my all time favourite brews since I first tasted it in 2011.
Indeed my favourite from this brewery. But it's a close choice between this, the
Triple, the Quadruple, the Brune and the Cuvee de Noel.......... all outstanding brews.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying all of these brews many times over the years, except
for the Quadruple, which is a fairly new addition to their range.
