Hi everyone,

Well then, what started out as a bit of fun on my Facebook and Instagram accounts has now become a permanent feature - #belgiansunday it appears is here to stay.

So to share the beers this is what I had yesterday and it was fantastic  :zicon2_beer3:

De Graal and their 9% Tripel.

Pours a murky, hazy amber that is packed full of suspended yeast particles, topped by a thick pure white foamy head that slowly, slowly fades...almost lasting the duration, this is one great looking beer.

Pungent fruity aroma...lots of citrus (oranges and lemons) and more fruit with a definite banana waft, spices also make their presence known with ginger heat coming through and the orange notes of coriander before finishing with a strong malty backbone.

Initial taste is sweet and again citrus (zesty orange) but also a fruity, peach like smoothness is very evident before bitter/grassy hops cut through coupled with a spicy, clove edge - both providing the perfect balance, the finish is dry and warming with a lasting bitterness....a really great Tripel.

Cheers and here's to next Sunday

Did they change up their label a little bit? I swear I've had this one before, maybe over here in the states or perhaps in Belgium. However from memory the color of the label was different and while the De Graal type looks familiar, the "Tripel" part doesn't. Oh well, not that important really. I do remember it being pretty damn tasty as you pointed out.

Hi,
Great tasting moment there Jay. Your Sundays will shine greatly !!!
Just back (yesterday afternoon) from 18 days of Ardèche - France.
Need to settle a bit now, and I need to work today.
More info about our trip later on.
Cheers,
Filip

John,
It's always great to be back home  :fritemayo:
France was great, but Belgium .......... is great too.
It is only when you get back home that one gets aware of that. Strange isn't it.
After all, spending Holiday isn't actually the most relaxing thing to do. Alot of stress going on. The trip back home for instance.
We had ALOT of food and ALOT of drinks too. It is remarkable how easily one gets adapted to that, and take all those happy moments for granted.
Anyway, we are safely back home, and had no nasty experiences what so ever.
Belgian beer is more vastly available in France than ever before, and the purchase prices are nealy the same as here in motherland of Belgium.
That really is a very good sign ! Love this evolution..... but don't forget, France is a wine country, and that is what we have done too. The local wines were so cheap too, amazing!!

I will make a report, and try to make it as beery as possible.

Cheers,
Filip

Yes Filip, trips like the one you took can be wonderful, but like you said, sometimes a bit stressful too. There's that old saying, "I need a vacation from my vacation".

Certainly it can be a very good feeling when you get back home. I imagine even more so when Bruges is your home.   :animated-belgium-flag-image-0

Please take your time making the report. I know we're all looking forward to seeing it, but for sure you are a busy guy and other things such as work and getting some rest come first.

Cheers! - John

Hi John,

From memory the label on the Tripel has always been red, there is a blue one from De Graal but that is the Gember (Ginger) good but not a patch on the Tripel.

Hi John,
Spot on ! There is indeed much more other work to do too. Garden job, house job, work job, name it. Too much really, and I always have the feeling that I don't have time enough. That's quite some problem  :ohno-1:
Actually, when I came home, I needed to struggle through my massive emails. More than 100 new subscribers to the BBB Facebook group that need a closer look if those subscribers actually are not spammers, etc... and.... when loging to the BBB website, already some updates needed to be done. For instance the new Joomla! version, and a couple of plug-ins. As this website from now on will always be based on the most recent versions. A lesson I learned by now.
Cheers,
Filip

Yes John,
I think Jay is correct. I can't remember a different label for the triple.
Here's the labels that IIRC have never changed: https://degraal.be/producten/bieren

Aha, thanks guys for clearing that up. My mind was probably just playing tricks on me. I've noticed that the older you get the more often that seems to happen.
