LEFORT SOUR OAKED  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Lefort blended with foederbeer then aged on oak casks, from Omer Vander Ghinste, with an ABV of 9.0%. New brew for me.

Pours a cloudy deep and dark burgundy with a small frothy creamy head which lasts as a residual throughout. No lacing is produced.

Sharp tangy fruity aroma.

It's thinnish bodied, and nicely carbonated with a fizzy effervescence. It's complex, layered, velvety smooth, balanced, and has great depth of flavour. At its coldest it's pretty fresh tasting, tangy, sharp, crisp, and fruity with a bit of acidity too, with the foederbeer dominating but as it warms it mellows, and caramel, malts, chocolate, berry fruits, grains, and tea are revealed as the LeFort becomes more apparent. Slightly sweet yet puckeringly sour, and with a dry finish. What an outstanding brew! Highly recommended!
