WAARDAMSE WINTER  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Winter Beer from Stokhove, with an ABV of 7.0%. New brew for me.
Brewed with cinnamon, clove and star anise.

Pours a deep ruby burgundy with a good sized frothy creamy head, which dissipates quickly but does leave a residual throughout but no lacing.

Spicey aroma, with berry fruits and malts.

It's medium bodied, and with a slightly low level of carbonation although this doesn't detract from the brew in any way. Wonderful complexity, balanced, and with great depth of flavour for the ABV. Quite an interesting and unique flavour dominated by the spices used, and berry fruits. ( Reminds me a bit of Rochefort 6 ) And there's chocolate, malts, burnt malts, dried fruit, caramel, fruitcake, mocha and coffee, herbal hops, hint of cola. Sweet yet dry and bitter. Great stuff! ( much better than anticipated by the way)

Cheers!
