MAITRESSE QUADRUPLE  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Quadruple from Maitresse, brewed at BeerSelect in Ghent, with an ABV of 9.0%. New brew and first brew from this brewfirm.

Aroma of malts and burnt malts plus some chocolate and spices.

Pours a very deep dark burgundy, with a huge frothy creamy head. Good lacing. Full bodied, and perfectly carbonated, with a slick oily yet creamy, luxurious smooth taste and texture, with lots of malts, burnt malts, chocolate, mocha, coffee, caramel, and hoppy fruity citric background. Wonderful complexity, nicely balanced, and great depth of flavour. Quite subtle overall, with a nice dry and bitter finish.
Outstanding brew; top quality!

Cheers!

Hi Viv,
What a coincidence !!!!!
I actually met the people from Maîtresse yesterday at the "Malle Malefeesten", that happened near my home. (http://mallemalefeesten.brugsebuurten.be/)
Maîtresse-beer is the result of close collaboration between the whole team of BeerSelect and Patrick and Matthias Herman (father and son - see pictures here under) who all are beer-passionates.

They installed a small tasting booth inbetween the big fleamarket, along the street.

15cl. tasters from their complete range at €1.00 - what a bargain  t_u

Ofcourse I tried their 9 vol% Quadrupel, but unfortunately didn't take a picture from that.
It simply was damn AMAZING !!!!  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

OTOH, I took a picture from their AMAZING (yes again) Maîtresse tripel (10 vol%)
This beer was such a treat! It actually reminded me of the Deus Champagne beer from Bosteels (AB Inbev).
The people (father and son here on the pictures) will change it a little bit towards that less sweet.
But for me though it was a 100% succeeded tripel. Success definitely highly guaranteed!!
I actually preferred it above their Quadrupel =>  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

Patrick and Matthias Herman (father and son).

It was utterly nice to also have tasted that pilot beer they just brewed at bry. Bryggja.
There were still no lables on the bottles. Quite premature really.
It is an IPA, and tasted wonderfully flowery, somewhat grapefruity, as you would expect from an IPA.
Burping afterwards gave massive IPA citric-grapefruity aromas, and believe me that took for a long while :) A sign of quality !

The BBB wishes Maîtresse all the best !! I'm already very positive about their quality beers.

Cheers,
Filip

Hi Filip,

I have a bottle of the Maitresse Triple and am really looking forward
to tasting it, and even more so now that I have seen your comments!

Their Blonde, at 7.5%, is probably pretty good too...

Cheers!

Hi Viv,
That's the one we didn't taste yesterday.
I haven't had it before either, so cannot testify if it is any good though.
But something tells me the blond will be tasty too along their other masterpieces.  F_C
Cheers,
Filip
