Trappist Ale from England's Mount St.Bernard, with an ABV of 7.4%. New brew and new brewery for me.

Pours a very deep dark ruby burgundy, with a good sized creamy frothy head which quickly dissipates but leaves a residual throughout. Not much lacing.

Aroma of malts, burnt malts and hops.

It's medium bodied, and perfectly carbonated. Luxurious, smooth, creamy and rounded it's very easy drinking. Malty, with a hoppy bite, with lots of burnt malts, mocha, plain chocolate, coffee, toffee, caramel, dates, raisins, and oats, with a very subtle hint of orchard fruit. Quite dry and with a bitter finish. Complex, balanced and great depth of flavour. Much better than expected! Great brew!

Cheers!
