Hi everyone,

Last weekend was a double celebration at the Baxter household, firstly it was our youngest daughter Anna's birthday and it was also our Wedding Anniversary 🥳

So to mark these special occasions I opened something from the very back of my stash - a Winterkoninske Grand Cru (American Oak Finish) from 2013.

Pours a very deep brick red, almost bordering on brown with a sudsy ring of bubbles ( ageing robbing me of the text book head)
Aroma is Sherry soaked chocolates and dried fruit that carries over into the taste...there's dark chocolate, Sherry ageing, oak barrel dryness, raisins and boozy jam with not a hint of cardboard mustiness...just a beautifully well aged Belgian.

Proost,
Jay

Hi Jay,
Congratulations !!!  :animated-cheers:
This is one hell of an amazing beer to mark those special occasions t_u
Winterkoninkske Grand Cru is first brewed in 2009, so you had their 5th. edition.
It is very nice to read that no single cardboard flavor was noticed. This means, perfect ageing conditions --- and a true quality beer.
This is one of my all-time favorit beers. A bit pity it's only available in winter time, as it is a seasonal brew.
Thanks for sharing Jay  t_u
Cheers  :culsec:
