Hi,
Something intriguing!

During our recent Holiday in the Ardennes, We found a small bar in Laroche-en-Ardenne.
It's called Le Zenith.

Le Zenith - Rue du Pont 5, 6980 La Roche-en-Ardenne.

Not really a beer place but rather a normal local bar. A very small bar to be precise.
We were sitting in front there, just behind the window. Cozy and small.
But see, they had Trappist Westmalle triple!

Both were poured into older glasses, and see, the bottles were also not that young anymore. Best before 25 June 2022.
They still carry the old labels.
At first, we thought the beer would have passed its excellency, knowing Westmalle triple doesn't age that well, and keeping in mind the monks use a short 2 years of best before, possible due to that reason of ageing problems.

BUT  :exclamation: What a surprise  :exclamation:
What a DELIGHT!!
No single sign of cardboard boardness. OTOH, a highly delicious, complex, fruity, estery, still hoppy treat showed up!
And what a perfumy wonder of nature! We can safely say that we had one of the best Werstmalle triples in our lives.
This beer sure was kept in optimal conditions. very important ofcourse.
But it immediately eliminates my thoughts that WT can't be kept longer than 2 years. Miracles sometimes really DO happen  t_u

BTPint.... Here above some pictures from the recent bottles of triple and dubbel.
You notice that they put bottle neck labels now.
Most presumably because there simply is no space left on the back label to put the barcode.
Another novelty from the Belgian trappist scene.

The Westmalle dubbel was a treat. Not that strong, but such a perfect balanced beauty.
Definitely one of the beers I try, when not in the mood to go stronger alcoholic.

Cheers,
Filip
