Hi,
Time to show you an amazing quadrupel :o

Martha who?
Martha was born in the 1920s in Heule, a small picturesque village near Kortrijk in Belgium.
Loving beer as she was, she developed a unique premium recipe for her favorite brews.
Today, her savoir-faire, her ideas and tradition are still very topical.
Not only was she loved by everyone, but she was also sexy, crazy, happy, wild, busy and rough.
Let us toast with love to Martha!
This dark black beer in quadruple style with a second fermentation in the bottle is inspired by the best beers from Belgian Trappist brewers.
The beer has a light brown dense foam head. Pleasant fruity scents of apple, candied pear, ripe strawberry and cherries with a slightly spicy touch of anise, licorice and caramel, warming in the nose.
In the middle caramel comes up again, with many notes of dried fruit, and accents of caramel, coffee and chocolate from the roasted malt.
A balanced and soft bitterness that flows into an intensively heated alcoholic finale, covered with a robust head.
Alcohol volume: 12%
Taste bitterness: 24 EBU
Colour: 80 EBC
Pouring temperature: 8° - 10°
Shelf life: 3 year

Well, I really couldn't describe this beauty better than their commercial description.
This beer has become one of my favorits these days, and this really says something!
This is a great brew, and will become a fixed value here in Belgium and abroad.
I'm very well surprised with the Brew Society (estd. 2016), located at Heule, near Kortrijk.
What an excellent brew from brewmaster Björn Desmadryl :appauding-1: :appauding-1: :appauding-1:
Cheers,
Filip

Indeed! If you get a chance to try their blond or red beers it will be interesting to hear how those are as well. Also there are a few glasses available on their website that look nice, and are very reasonably priced. Thanks for sharing this Filip! It looks like this is another beer I'll have to keep an eye out for if I should ever come across it.
Cheers! - John

Hi John,
I sure will try their blond soon too, as they have them at the same shop (Colruyt - Alvo) where I purchased that Quad.
I also will look out for their red!
Stay tuned......
Cheers,
Filip

Well John,
Here we are....

Those are both AMAZING :exclamation:
The red Martha Guilty Pleasure is a real treat.
That's an 8 vol% for a fruitbeer :o
According their website, brewed with fresh sour cherry's.
This high fermentation ale has a ruby red color and a reddish pale head.
This beer has a scent and aroma of fresh marzipan with an explosion of cherries and raspberries.
A play of sweet and sour that refreshes and charms with a very light bitterness that nicely balances the whole.
It is surprisingly light and easily digestible for a fairly strong beer.
Personally, I tasted ALOT of marzipan!! Seldom had a cherry beer with such a nutty flavors.
It is a quite sweet beer too. In the league of Delirium red, Kasteel rouge, Chouffe cherry, etc... if you got what I mean.
A true candy beer. Yes, I liked it alot!! t_u
Martha Sexy Blond - 8 vol%
This strong blond, high-fermented beer with secondary fermentation in the bottle contains carefully selected ingredients, such as high-quality malted barley and three types of aromatic hops from Belgium.
A straw yellow beer with hints of white, dried fruit and cloves.
A sweet start that is embraced by the alcohol present.
A beer with a full taste, a refined aroma that turns into a slightly bitter aftertaste.
A great and reliable description on their website t_u
Folks, this is some great brewing!
It drinks with alot of quality satisfactions too, similar to the finest Omer, Filou, Sloeber, Val-Dieu triple, name it.....
I feel a success story coming up for the Brew Society! Highly deserved :appauding-1:
Cheers,
Filip
They both sound delicious Filip, thanks for sharing your tasting with us.
Cheers! - John
MARTHA BROWN EYES t_u t_u t_u t_u t_u
Quadruple from The Brew Society, with an ABV of 12.0%. New brew for me.
Pours a very deep dark ruby with a smallish frothy creamy head, which
dissipates quickly but does leave a thin residue throughout.
Aromas of plain chocolate, coffee, malts, burnt malts, and toast.
It's medium to full bodied, and nicely carbonated, with a soft luxurious
creamy smooth mouthfeel and taste. Very easy drinking indeed. Complex,
layered and lots of depth of flavour. Very short initial fleeting sweetness
with coffee, dark chocolate, malts, burnt malts, toast, toffee and caramel
balancing the very long and dry and bitter mid and finish. There's some
dried fruit, cherry, nuts- almond, brazil, walnut, pecan,- figs, prunes,
and a lot of banana too. Background hop presence. Remeniscent of Rochefort
10 and St.Bernardus Abbott 12. Outstanding brew!
Cheers!
Viv
"Remeniscent of Rochefort
10 and St.Bernardus Abbott 12".
That's some high praise there Viv! I need to make a list of your 5 thumbs up reviews. Unfortunately nearly all them are unobtainable here, but next time I'm able to visit somewhere that has them available I'd love to give them a try. Ok, maybe not all at once but ... over time, lol.
Cheers! - John

Oh yes !!! That really is some high praise, and I'm completely on the same line with Viv !
The people from Martha (The Brew Society) are doing great effort when it comes to distributing their beers.
Martha is already widely available over here at many beer shops and supermarkets.
I think it is onbly a matter of a short wait to see them appear in the USA !! Fingers F_C
Cheers,
Filip
Hi John,
My scoring system has evolved slightly over the years.
As I have tasted almost 1,800 brews the difference in
the t_u is roughly a grading of
t_u t_u t_u t_u t_u 1-500,
t_u t_u t_u t_u 501-1,000,
t_u t_u t_u 1,001-1,500,
t_u t_u and 1,501-1,800
However, there are going to be many anomalies as the list
is continually upgraded by new brews so it's never more than
a very rough guide really.
Once I have tasted the 68 new brews I have in stock then I can
post my top 500 list.
Cheers!
Viv
