Hi guys,

Just received a big order from Belgium, with some old favourites, some newish favourites,
and 64 new brews, including brews from 11 new breweries/brewfirms.....

But unfortunately not without problems with Import Duty, and escalating shipping costs!

Cheers!

Whew Viv, I can't even imagine how much it would cost to ship so many beers.  :o

Well, you'll certainly have plenty of them to enjoy for quite a while. I'm looking forward to your pictures and tasting notes.  t_u

Hi John,

Shipping from Belgium before Brexit was pretty cheap, and the overall total
cost per bottle was still much cheaper than buying from UK online beershops.

However, the shipping and Import Duty ( which I am trying to claim back )
amounted to over 50% of the bottles cost for my last order of 112 bottles.

The box that was "impounded" by Customs took a full 2 weeks from sending to
delivery.

Despite the hassle, stress, and added timescales it's still worth it though,
as the brews are not ones that you can usually get in the UK.

Cheers!

Hi guys,

I must say that when I ordered the last batch of brews there were quite a few that
I thought may be quite a dissapointment and I have to say that so far the few I have
tasted are all excellent brews! Maybe it's their freshness creating much stronger
and deep flavours!

Ok, they may not get  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u  t_u

as that's normally reserved for much stronger brews, but for their styles they are
pretty near the best.

Cheers!

Hi Viv,
The pains of Brexit.
But I still wonder why you need to pay taxes twice. One for Belgium, and one VAT Tax for the UK.
This really seems not fair to me, and I am not sure if this would apply for the US too  :chin:

Hi Filip,

I'm not sure about that line!?!

I have only noticed it now you have mentioned it having re-read the postings.

I must have deleted some other comments too? It's after my name so definitely
a mistake but I think my line of thought was that how ever good a Blonde Ale
was/is it would never compete with the best Triples, Quadruples, etc even
though it might be the top for the Blonde style.

I hope that clarifies things.....!

Cheers!
