Hi,
It seems that Belgian breweries have found their way to distill their beer !
3 Fonteinen and Het Anker are already two previous examples.
Next is Duvel Moortgat, who will introduce "Duvel Distilled" in December of this year.
Duvel Distilled is 40 degrees strong, and made from Duvel. The distillate has been aged/matured for 3 years on wooden Bourbon and Sherry barrels.
The brew has been distilled for two times.
Only 2750 corked and 'numbered' bottles are made !!!! Contents: 50 cl.
Available at beer shops and at the brewery.
To give the beer lover the opportunity to also taste this distillate, small 50 ml samplers will be added "for free" when ordering 12 bottles of Duvel.
The price of one 50cl bottle will be around 40 Euro's.

Picture of the 50ml 'free' sampler.

Extract newspaper article, including the 50cl. bottle.

Cheers,
Filip

Hi Filip et al,

What an amazing idea to distill beers to 40%. Is it classed as a spirit, a liqueur, or what?

I wonder what the drink tastes like! How much of the Duvel tastes are retained, and what is added.

You certainly need to remember when pouring into a glass that its 40%, and not 8.5%!!! And there'll be none of that big head either!

Cheers!
